Vintage Art Mural Print of Chitons by Diderot, Bernard Direxit - Decorative Wanddeko

$23.74

This beautiful 18th century old print of art depicts several Chiton from the renowned Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers. This antique work, edited and partially written by Diderot, d'Alembert, and Voltaire, was the first true encyclopedia and is a hallmark of the Enlightenment. Published between 1751 and 1772, it brought together the knowledge of the era and became not just a source of learning but a powerful tool in the ideological battle between secular and religious authorities. The plate is engraved by Benard Direxit who was an 18th century French engraver praised for his high quality and accurate engravings. The animals on the print are several chiton. There is some very light toning, more noticeable in the margins, and a small marked spot on the right of the page, but overall it is a very well-preserved piece.

It's a stunning addition to any natural history collection and a beautiful piece of art that will elevate any space, whether displayed on your wall, in the kitchen, or anywhere else in your home.
